Settling in Barcelona at a young age, where he exhibited regularly from 1918 onwards, he directed the Barcelona School of Fine Arts (1940-1942) and then the School of Arts and Crafts (1940-1946). In 1949, he exhibited successfully in Buenos Aires. He developed a spirited and solitary marine style which, despite its classicism, earned him great popularity.
