This sunset landscape featuring ancient figures and ruins was painted in the 18th century in the style of the world-renowned French Baroque painter Claude Gellée, known as LE LORRAIN (1600–1682). The painting is signed “P. de Thiere” and was likely created by the French etcher and painter Philippe Thiere (Triere), born in 1756 in Paris and died in 1815.
