Pierre ETAIX (1928-2016) Pierre Etaix, originally from Roanne, graphic designer by training, initiated into the art of stained glass by master Théodore-Gérard Hanssen, essentially built his career around comedy. He settled in Paris where he lived as an illustration while performing in cabarets and music halls, as well as at the circus with the clown Nino. He met Jacques Tati in 1954 for whom he worked for 4 years as a designer and gagman in the preparation of his film Mon uncle, then as assistant director on the set. He performed with his music hall number in 1961 in J. Tati's show Jour de fête at the Olympia.
