Harikake jingasa, Samurai headdress, Japan, 19th Century
Jinagasa, samurai headgear black lacquered wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl. Some parts can be harikake, a paper mache technique covered with lacquer. The interior is lacquered in red. There is a silk cord to keep the headgear on the head.
The jingasa is decorated with the mon (emblem) of the Shimazu clan.
Custom-made presentation stand included.
