Louis XIV Gilt Bronze Clock
Gilt chased bronze clock, allegory of passing time. The allegory of time is symbolized by a rooster which represents dawn, an owl represents the night, an hourglass held by Saturn, and water flowing from a waterfall on the base. A cherub indicates with its index a watch movement with a white dial integrated under a bezel, signed on the back plate "CHOTARD LONDON". Very beautiful openwork rooster with a wildlife head. Operating state. Period gilding. Louis XIV period.
