Votive Ashanti Statue - Ghana
Votive statue presenting a standing dignitary holding in one hand a rifle butt (broken) and in the other a powder pear. He carries on his head a barrel which probably contained gunpowder. On his back, on the belt is represented a gourd, a satchel and a sword. Wood, old patina of honey use, traces of white mineral dye.
