Heilmayer's life was born the son of the royal actor and landscape painter Emil Heilmayr. November 6, 1843. He begins his studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich, but he interrupts prematurely and continues his studies as an autodidact. Heilmayer remained active in Munich and painted mainly fog and moon landscapes. In search of picturesque regions, he made study trips, particularly in Upper Bavaria, Italy and South Tyrol. He has also visited Belgium, France and northern Germany. Heilmayer exhibits his work at exhibitions in Munich, Berlin, Dresden and Vienna.
