Interesting XVIIth century Norman wedding chest in solid oak with richly carved panels depicting in the center a mythological scene and on each side 2 Corinthian columns. The scene represents an Amphitrite: Nereid, daughter of Nereus and Doris, wife of Poseidon. Among the Romans, she was likened to the goddess Salacia, goddess of salt water.
