Rene Aubert : "the New Scooter"
RenéAubert (1894–1977): “The New Scooter,” oil on canvas 132 × 97 cm, mounted in its original gilded Louis XIII-style frame, 144 × 110 cm.
A very minor restoration on the back, not visible from the front.
Circa 1930.
The artist, a regular exhibitor with the Artistes Français and also a forensic illustrator, served as a drawing instructor and later as director at the Beaux-Arts in Versailles.
One can guess that this young boy, portrayed in the gardens of Versailles, won’t keep the immaculate white of his outfit for very long !
