An eclectic artist, Saverio Barbaro discovered the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern worlds and cultures through his travels and was “influenced” by them.
As a painter, he found in the landscapes of the East and the Maghreb a constant and rich source of inspiration for his artistic work: Berber dwellings, the vegetation of desert landscapes, and the figures of the inhabitants of these distant lands—portrayed with just a few strokes of line and color—have served as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for a body of work that has prioritized a love of travel and exotic places.
His color palette is extraordinarily rich and intense, featuring unusual combinations that linger long in the memory.
The composition of his paintings is characterized by extreme simplification and a great ability to capture the essence of what is depicted.
