Pen Drawing By Mario Tozzi Figure In Rest 1969 With Authentication Framed
Artist: Mario Tozzi
Ballpoint pen on paper. Signed in the lower right corner. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity based on a photograph from the Mario Tozzi Archive.
Among the extensive body of work by the master Tozzi, there are many drawings—such as the one presented here—executed using various techniques (ink, pastel, pencil, red chalk) and dedicated to the human figure: in his austere and stylized style, Mario Tozzi sketches stylized figures, refined in their quiet and discreet geometry, enhanced by the absence of color, which makes the forms stand out against the white paper
Even in his paintings, Mario Tozzi’s favorite subjects are, classically, figures and still lifes, but both figures and still lifes are composed of solid geometric elements—the sphere, the cylinder, the cone, etc. The bodies are elementary, essential in their lines and details, powerful, statuesque, composed of barely modeled solids, while the still lifes are a celebration of Euclidean geometry—such as the jugs, bowls, and flasks—which are paradigms of volumetry and geometric rigor. Mario Tozzi’s compositions are influenced by Cubism in certain cuts, by Metaphysical Art in certain architectural elements, and by Abstract Art in the inclusion of geometric figures.
The work is presented in a frame.
