Neo-baroque Console Table With Mirror, Italy, Late 19th Century
Late 19th-century Italian Neo-Baroque console table, featuring a richly carved and ebonized structure. The console features a pair of drawers set into the lower panel, supported by a mirrored back panel. The front legs, carved in the shape of caryatids, rest on a paneled base with feet decorated with animal heads. The upper mirror is beveled, with side panels adorned with fruit carvings and a central mask. It also features a male figure on the right and a female figure on the left. The upper panel is embellished with a central face and side masks. The cornice is decorated with a central shield, accompanied by a pair of cherubs and a basket of fruit, and completed by two leafy finials on either side.
