16th-century Two-handed Sword Flamberge

16th-Century Two-Handed Sword Flamberge.

A particularly remarkable and interesting German two-handed flamberge, likely used by elite mercenaries, the Landsknechts.
The guard consists of straight quillons; the hilt, covered in very well-preserved leather, is adorned with finely embossed motifs.

The pommel features a spectacular spiral shape, serving as an ideal counterweight for this imposing sword.

The ricasso bears, on both sides, a crown hallmark accompanied by the letters “S T.”

The blade, with a wavy profile reminiscent of flames, is designed for heavy use; it shows signs of prolonged use, as evidenced by the areas that have been reworked or resharpened. It is also marked with several crosses, as well as the inscriptions “Clemence Stamm” and “In Solingen.”

These details speak volumes about the craftsmanship of the artisans and blacksmiths who created this true work of art.

Its overall condition is worthy of a museum piece.
