A superb 19th-century oil painting presented in a very elegant oval format.

The composition depicts a lively, bucolic rural scene:

• In the foreground, figures in a rowboat on a peaceful river lined with water lilies and vegetation.
• On the right bank, a charming traditional half-timbered cottage stands beneath large, majestic trees.
• In the background, a rolling landscape bathed in soft, hazy light, with a herd of cows grazing in the pastures.

The color palette is harmonious, featuring shades of green and ochre, along with a nuanced sky with pinkish hues. The brushwork is delicate and detailed, lending great depth and serenity to the composition.
