Pair of Solid Silver Candlesticks
Milan, circa 1820 – Fratelli Scavini Workshop
Description of the Work
A splendid and rare pair of solid silver candlesticks, made in Milan around 1820. These pieces fully reflect the excellence of Milanese silverwork from the Restoration period, which was still strongly influenced by the Neoclassical taste and the formal rigor of the Empire style.
The shaft features a refined, slender line embellished with a sculptural central knot featuring busts in the classical style. The circular base, with its harmonious profile, is decorated along the rim with a refined, finely chiseled geometric frieze.
