Georges Dumoulin (1882–1959) Large Glass Vase, Ca. 1930, Val Saint Lambert. Marinot, Thuret

Artist: Georges Dumoulin (1882-1959)
I am offering a rare and significant new glass vase by Georges Dumoulin, circa 1930–1940.
It is ovoid in shape, resting on a pedestal with a wide neck, and features a very pretty design of straw-yellow speckles interspersed on a satin-white background—a style very typical of the artist.
It is signed “G. Dumoulin” in ox-blood red on the pedestal.
In perfect original condition.
Height: 17 cm, diameter: 15 cm, and circumference at widest point: 51 cm.
Price for this vase alone: 290€

Georges DUMOULIN (1882–1959), a pioneer of modern glass art
This Burgundian artist was a true all-rounder: an enamel decorator, ceramist, painter, and eventually a glassmaker. After an apprenticeship with the Parisian jeweler and goldsmith Lucien Falize (a friend of Émile Gallé), he joined the Sèvres porcelain factory to train in ceramics.
A passionate painter, he began exploring glass techniques in his own studio starting in 1922. In the early 1920s, he received recognition for his works and gained a reputation that was further cemented by awards and medals at art exhibitions. This success led him to focus exclusively on glass experimentation beginning in 1928.
Between 1928 and 1932, the store “Le Grand Dépôt” and the Druet Gallery in Paris sold these unique pieces. Influenced by the work of Maurice Marinot, Georges Dumoulin created vases and bottles of great technical sophistication: bubbles, filaments as interlayers, oxide inclusions or colored impurities, and textural effects. His work heralded the arrival of modern glass art.
Beginning in 1932, his production slowed due to the economic crisis. His pieces are signed with the inscriptions: “G. Dumoulin,” “GDVMOULIN,” or “Dumoulin .”
I’ve included the link below, from which this article is taken; there you can also see a few of the artist’s pieces, including a vase similar to the one I sold a few months ago. https://leverreetlecristal.wordpress.com/2017/02/03/georges-dumoulin-1882-1959-pioneer-of-modern-glass-art-in-france/
Georges Marcel Dumoulin, born in Vitteaux on May 18, 1882, and died on March 30, 1959, in Paris, was a French landscape painter and glass artist.
As a glass artist, he received an honorable mention at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in 1913, followed by a silver medal in 1921 and a gold medal in 1924, the year he was exempted from competition. He also participated in the Salon des Artistes Français beginning in 1922, as well as in the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon des Tuileries, and exhibited the paintings Caravans in the Snow and Port of Sauzon (Belle-Isle-en-Mer)

- I’m also offering an adorable little Val Saint Lambert glass box from around 1950 with a speckled pattern in shades of red, orange, and white.
Signed “V.S.L.” on the bottom.
Good condition; I’ll just note a tiny chip on the inside, which isn’t visible once the lid is on.
Height: 6 cm; diameter: 7.5 cm
Price for this box alone: 35€
Or 310€ for both pieces.
