Hand-blown Glass Cantir With White Filigree And Blue Inlays – Catalonia, Late 17th Century
A yellow-tinted blown-glass cantir decorated with white enameled spiral patterns.
The piece is embellished with hot-applied translucent blue glass: four star-shaped rosettes adorn the bulbous body, a bead highlights the filling hole, and the twisted ring handle is accented by fillets worked with pliers, topped by a small flame-shaped finial.
The foot features a wide, flat knot ending in a very pronounced conical indentation.
Languedoc or Catalonia, late 17th–early 18th century
Very good condition (no cracks or chips), small impurities and air bubbles in the glass.
Although short and irregular, the end of the spout appears to be original.
An elegant and lightweight piece (644 g) despite its large dimensions.
Height: 30.5 cm
