Five 18th-century Wooden Coat Racks

A set of five polychrome ceramic wall coat hooks, made in Italy in the mid-20th century, presumably in the Veneto region.
The five panels depict five grotesque and caricatured characters, inspired by traditional Venetian masks and the Commedia dell’Arte, portrayed in lively poses and wearing various costumes and accessories.
The figures, modeled in relief and hand-painted, are distinguished by their rich polychromatic palette, featuring shades of blue, green, yellow, red, and turquoise, with a free and expressive decorative style.
Each character is mounted on a shaped geometric base, equipped with holes for wall mounting, and features a protruding element that serves as a hanger.
The style of these pieces is reminiscent of Venetian artistic ceramics from the 1950s, particularly those from the San Polo workshop, although they bear no marks or signatures that would allow for a definitive attribution.
The objects retain their original polychrome coloration, with signs of aging and previous restoration work, as further specified in the condition description.
Period: 1950s.
Provenance: Italy, likely the Veneto region.
Material: glazed and hand-painted ceramic.
Approximate dimensions: height approximately 19 cm; width 21 to 24 cm; depth 12 to 15 cm, varying by model.
Condition: The coat racks show signs of age, small chips, some cracks—likely partly attributable to the firing process—and traces of previous restoration work, including re-gluing, filling, and localized repainting. The restoration work is partially visible upon close inspection. Overall, the series retains its decorative integrity.
The series consists of five different pieces.
Additional photographs of details and restoration work are available upon request.
