Young Boy With A Pipe – Large Polychrome Terracotta – Circa 1900, Goldsheider Tobacco Style
An antique, large polychrome terracotta sculpture depicting a smiling young boy wearing a cap, a jacket, a striped shirt, a scarf tied around his neck, and shorts.
Standing barefoot, with his left hand in his pocket, he looks amusedly at a pipe held in his right hand. The bowl of the pipe, sculpted in the shape of a young boy’s head, bears a resemblance to the figure himself, adding a touch of humor.
The sculpture stands out for its facial expressions, the detail of the clothing, and its polychromatic finish.
The figure rests on a rocky ground and a tree trunk.
Work from around 1900 in the style of Goldsheider’s pieces.
