Large Gilt-bronze Ceramic Centerpiece In The Neoclassical Style From Maison Wong
Artist: Maison Wong
Stunning Neoclassical-style centerpiece made of crackled ceramic and gilded bronze, by Maison Wong
A remarkable openwork bowl serving as a centerpiece, combining elegant crackled-glaze ceramic with rich, chiseled gilded bronze trim.
The upper oval-shaped bowl is finely openwork with a basketweave pattern and hand-painted with a polychrome floral design in the 18th-century style. It is supported by two impressive gilt-bronze putti (cherubs) that form the base and handles. The scalloped base features a ram’s head mascaron in high relief at its center and rests on four leaf-decorated bronze feet.
A hallmark on the base beneath the footplate depicts a crowned coat of arms with the monogram AM/WL and the decorative date 1895. This piece was crafted by the renowned Wong Lee manufactory, known for the quality of its bronze mountings and meticulous craftsmanship
