Decorative Meissen Porcelain Plate. 1934–1945

A magnificent decorative porcelain dish crafted by the renowned Saxon Meissen porcelain manufactory between 1934 and 1945. This piece is a remarkable example of 20th-century artistic porcelain, carrying on the finest traditions of European Rococo as interpreted by the Meissen masters.

The center is adorned with a delicate, hand-painted polychrome floral bouquet, executed with the virtuosity and chromatic finesse characteristic of Meissen’s finest painters. The porcelain’s dazzling whiteness perfectly highlights the floral composition and emphasizes its decorative elegance.

One of the most remarkable features of this piece is its rich relief decoration, entirely accented with gilding. The wide openwork border is enlivened by an elaborate rocaille composition, consisting of asymmetrical volutes, lush floral garlands, and finely modeled plant motifs, executed with exceptional mastery. The contrast between the brilliance of the gilding, the whiteness of the porcelain, and the delicacy of the polychrome painting lends the piece a sumptuous decorative richness characteristic of Meissen’s finest works.

This type of platter was intended to adorn ceremonial interiors and was a prestigious piece in major European porcelain collections.
