African Mask In The Baoulé/guro Style (ivory Coast)
African mask in the Baoulé/Guro style (Ivory Coast), carved from hardwood and mounted on a wooden base with a black metal rod, ready to display. The oval face, with delicate and serene features, features half-closed eyes accented by eyebrows and eyelids highlighted in white, an elongated nose, and a mouth with white lips. The headdress, carved with fine striations and painted black, frames the forehead. The face is covered with a beautiful red patina showing natural wear, while the oval collar around the edge is black, marked by light areas and chips that attest to the object’s age. The reverse side, hollowed out by hand, shows tool marks, attachment holes, and remnants of red pigments—signs of authentic use. A decorative collector’s piece with a strong character that will fit perfectly in an interior with an ethnic, bohemian, or primitive art aesthetic. Approximate dimensions to be specified (including the height of the mask and the base). Some paint chips and micro-chips due to age, visible in the photos. Sold as shown in the photos; stylistic attribution is at the buyer’s discretion.
