Nevers – émile Georges – Earthenware Ewer And Saucer – Blue And White Design
A very beautiful decorative set in Nevers faience, signed Émile Georges, consisting of an elegant ewer and its matching circular saucer.
The ewer features a particularly original shape, with a long, slender spout and a curvilinear handle depicting a winged mythical creature, in the spirit of Renaissance designs.
The baluster-shaped body is adorned with a rich, hand-painted floral design in shades of blue on a white background, featuring multi-lobed medallions and stylized plant motifs.
The circular rim echoes this same color scheme, featuring a radiating design of foliage, flowers, and waterfowl arranged around a central floral composition.
The set attests to the craftsmanship of the Nevers potters and their taste for historical forms and Renaissance-inspired designs.
