Empire Period Week Organizer, Early 19th Century, In Flame Mahogany
An Empire period chest of drawers, early 19th century, in flame mahogany, with seven drawers in the front and detached column uprights. It rests on cylindrical feet terminating in gilt bronze rings. The drawers are fitted with gilt bronze knobs and original keyhole escutcheons. The piece is topped with a black marble slab. The wood displays beautiful, regular flame patterns, typical of the Empire period. The interior is lined with light oak, consistent with the period. The back of the piece is original and has not been replaced. It has very fine, architectural proportions, typical of Parisian furniture from the Consulate/Empire period. Condition: Good overall condition. Wear and slight signs of age are visible, without major restoration or structural alterations.
