Polychrome Painted Alsatian Wardrobe – Louis XIV Style – Floral Decoration – 19th Century – Folk Art. Superb polychrome painted wardrobe in the Tyrolean/Alpine style, made in the mid-19th century, with a back dated 1947 (handwritten inscription inside). It features a rich hand-painted decoration in the tradition of Central European folk furniture (Austria, Switzerland, Southern Germany, Tyrol). The front opens with two large paneled doors, entirely decorated with stylized floral motifs, wreaths, bouquets, and traditional ornaments in vibrant shades of blue, red, ochre, green, and black on a wooden background. The uprights, cornice, and base are also decorated with painted and faux-marble patterns, typical of Alpine furniture. The molded cornice is adorned with painted rosettes, while the base has a wide, decorated plinth. The interior is fitted with large shelves, offering ample storage space. A fine piece of craftsmanship, typical of peasant wardrobes. Tyrolean, highly decorative and sought-after.
