Large Ewer And Its Base Made Of Polychrome Earthenware—nevers, émile Georges—putti Decoration
A very beautiful and original ewer and its base in polychrome earthenware, consisting of a central vase with two handles featuring winged dragons, resting on a large, richly decorated circular base.
This particularly decorative piece stands out for the vibrancy of its colors and the richness of its ornamentation, in the spirit of the great Italian Renaissance faience.
The central vase, baluster-shaped, features a delightful hand-painted design depicting a winged cherub, surrounded by landscapes and vegetation.
The two handles, spectacular in their design, take the form of fantastical winged dragons with sinuous bodies, rendered in shades of turquoise, yellow, blue, and brown.
The wide circular rim is adorned with an aquatic motif composed of blue waves, birds, fish, and plants, framed by a radiating frieze in orange-yellow and cobalt blue.
In the center of the rim is a small architectural landscape depicting buildings and a tower.
The piece as a whole displays a beautiful chromatic harmony, combining deep blue, golden yellow, green, and turquoise.
Signature: E. Georges, visible beneath the rim, accompanied by a small green ribbon motif.
A second painted mark is present beneath the base of the ewer.
