Antique Meissen Porcelain Hussar On Rearing Horse Figurine Model 1898
Meissen porcelain figurine depicts a military Hussar soldier mounted on a rearing white horse, based on an original design by Johann Joachim Kändler and Peter Reinicke. The rider wears a traditional red uniform jacket decorated with white details, dark blue trousers featuring a white side stripe, black tall boots with silver-toned spurs, and a fur-trimmed brown hat. A fur-lined dark blue cape is draped over his left shoulder. The white horse is captured in a rearing posture with its front legs raised, supported underneath by a molded tree trunk base finished in green, brown, and gold glazes. The horse features a detailed bridle and is draped with a patterned red saddlecloth with scroll motifs. The entire composition rests on an organic, low-profile base decorated with stylized foliage patterns and gold accents. The unglazed underside of the base features an authentic underglaze blue Meissen crossed swords mark with pommel handles, dating the piece between 1850 and 1924. The base also displays the incised factory model number 1898 along with additional incised and stamped artisan numbers. This porcelain sculpture measures approximately 17 centimeters in height, 15 centimeters in width, and 8 centimeters in depth.
