Antique 1920s English Sterling Silver Six-Piece Tea and Coffee Service by Mappin & Webb

An exceptional antique English six-piece solid sterling silver tea and coffee service, complete with a matching large double-handled presentation tray.

The five-piece tea and coffee service was made by the renowned silversmiths Mappin & Webb and is fully hallmarked for Sheffield, 1923. The accompanying large octagonal serving tray was made by Fordham & Fordham and is hallmarked for Sheffield, 1922.

All six pieces have been designed in a beautifully coordinated, multi-faceted octagonal form, with elegant plain panelled bodies and clean geometric lines characteristic of the early Art Deco period.

The service comprises:

* Hot water kettle with spirit burner and stand — 1.5 kg

* Teapot — 750 g

* Coffee pot — 755 g

* Sugar bowl — 230 g

* Milk jug — 210 g

* Large double-handled presentation tray — 3.14 kg

The kettle, teapot and coffee pot are fitted with finely carved black insulating wooden handles and matching wooden lid finials.

The total combined net weight of the sterling silver elements is approximately 6.59 kg.
