"arbalète" Chest Of Drawers, Carved Walnut, First Half Of The 18th Century
A chest of drawers with a so-called “Arbalète” profile, crafted from walnut with beautiful, deep carved molding.
The “crossbow” shape takes its name from the front and top panel, which feature a double ogee curve (indentations and bulges) reminiscent of the shape of a crossbow. The profile undulates symmetrically or asymmetrically, curving inward toward the center and then outward again.
Period: First half of the 18th century
Dimensions: 62 x 131 x 87 cm
