Gilt Bronze Reliquary Shrine, 19th Century, Gothic Style, Diocese Of Luçon, Vendée, Bishop Catt
Important gilt bronze reliquary shrine in the form of a Flamboyant Gothic chapel, decorated with trefoil arches, pinnacles, etc. The (removable) roof is surmounted by a cross. Original antique glass. The shrine contains 48 relics, mounted on a stand covered in red velvet, all perfectly preserved and accompanied by a label indicating their name. The mounting nuts under the ciborium, as well as the inner lid, bear intact the eight red wax seals with the arms of Bishop Nicolas-Clovis-Joseph Catteau, born March 21, 1836, in Sains-lès-Marquion (Pas-de-Calais) and died November 28, 1915, in Luçon (Vendée), a French prelate of the Catholic Church, the last concordat bishop of the Diocese of Luçon in Vendée between 1877 and 1915. Period: late 19th century, between 1877 and 1915, during Bishop Catteau's episcopate in Luçon. Dimensions: height 33 cm, width 32.5 cm, depth 15.8 cm.
