G.g. Chiari, "madonna And Child"—a 17th- To 18th-century Roman School Oil Miniature On Copper
Artist: Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari
An elegant oil-on-copper miniature from the Roman school, dating from the 17th–18th centuries. The Madonna has a gentle smile, a straight nose, and thin, long eyebrows, with gentle, distinctly spherical eyes, heart-shaped lips, and a curly-haired, blond Child with round cheeks, is reminiscent of the school of Maratta, of which G.B. Chiari was a prominent disciple. The copper support was also a medium frequently used by Chiari. The dress, rendered in pointillism, is delicate as a whole. The frame is of a later date, from the 19th century.
