Parisian Chest Of Drawers Made Of Amaranth Wood, Early 19th Century, Louis XVI Style
A beautiful early 19th-century Parisian chest of drawers in the Louis XVI style, crafted from amaranth veneer with deep, warm tones; its particularly expressive grain lends the piece a great deal of character.
It features two wide drawers on the front, accented by an elegant design of fillets and geometric motifs in the spandrels. The rich set of chiseled gilded bronze fittings—including the drop handles, lock plates, and side finials—is original. These ornaments, with their delicately leaf-inspired lines, elegantly highlight the simplicity of the front and attest to the care taken in crafting this piece.
The chest of drawers is topped with its original gray Sainte-Anne marble, whose mineral hues harmonize beautifully with the warm tones of the amaranth wood. Its subtly curved front and arched legs give it an elegant silhouette, true to the classical style of Louis XVI furniture.
This piece underwent a complete restoration in our workshops. The piece was carefully cleaned, and its veneer was restored to its former glory with a buffed varnish finish, which brings out the wood’s full depth and luster. The original bronze fittings were also carefully cleaned, preserving their antique character.
Thanks to the quality of its veneer and the preservation of its original bronze hardware and marble inlay, this chest of drawers is a fine example of early 19th-century Parisian furniture, elegantly continuing the aesthetic traditions of the Louis XVI style.
An elegant and authentic piece, carefully restored in our workshops, intended for connoisseurs of high-quality antique furniture.
