Copper Cake Pan With Griffin Design
Copper cake pan decorated with a griffin
A rectangular pan made of repoussé-worked copper sheet, depicting a griffin seated in profile facing left. The eagle’s head, with its beak slightly open, is extended below the beak by plumage rendered in tufts. A serrated crest runs along the nape of the neck. The wing is raised backward; the flight feathers are marked by incisions, and the coverts are rendered as overlapping leaf-shaped scales. The body and legs are those of a lion, with the claws clearly indicated. Two hemispherical medallions in relief complete the composition on the background. A hanging loop is attached to the upper edge.
Condition: patina from use
Dimensions: 15 cm x 11 cm
