Circa 1950; requires cleaning and has a fine network of hairline cracks across the entire surface of the painting (see close-ups).
The artist, a student of Cormon, was a member of the Artistes Français beginning in 1923 (see Bénézit) and produced numerous landscapes—both urban and rural—whose human activity brings them fully to life.
