Embossed And Chiseled Silver Box – Hanau, Late 19th / Early 20th Century
An elegant rectangular silver box, richly embossed and chased with scenes of cherubs and cupids, framed by flowering vines and plant motifs in the Rococo style. The lid and each of the four sides feature different figurative compositions, characterized by remarkable decorative richness and a pronounced three-dimensional effect.
The base bears pseudo-hallmarks attributable to the Hanau silversmithing tradition, including a crowned mark with the letters “MCX.”
