Important Oriental Sculptural Group In Cherry-red Coral
An important and refined sculptural group, finely carved and openworked in cherry-red coral, characterized by its typical pink and salmon hues with natural color variations. The composition, skillfully designed to follow the natural branching of the coral, features elegant female figures in flowing gowns, set against a richly detailed natural landscape. The work is embellished with an extraordinary variety of meticulously carved elements, including lotus flowers, bamboo, plant scrolls, birds, and symbolic Eastern motifs. Particularly refined are the rendering of the faces, the drapery, and the extensive openwork carving, which lends lightness and depth to the entire composition. The group rests on a contoured dark wood base, finely decorated with inlays featuring geometric and stylized motifs in an Eastern style. Total weight: 938 grams.
