Russian Vermeil Tea Glass Holder By Grachev, Saint Petersburg, 1892
Russian vermeil tea glass holder, presented in its original wooden case, crafted by the Grachev workshop in Saint Petersburg and dated 1892.
The set includes a gold-plated silver tea glass holder, its original glass, a matching spoon, and a custom-fitted wooden box lined with blue velvet and silk. Inside the lid is a plaque engraved with a monogram and the commemorative inscription in English: “In remembrance of the Confirmation, Feb. 21st 1893.” The silk cushion bears the Cyrillic stamp “Грачевъ, С. Петербургъ” / Grachev, Saint Petersburg.
The glass holder is cylindrical in shape, with an elegant handle and a gilded finish. The underside bears the Grachev hallmark, the Russian fineness mark of 84 zolotniki, and the St. Petersburg assay marks, dated 1892. The spoon also bears corresponding Russian hallmarks.
Grachev Brothers was one of the leading Russian silversmith workshops of the late imperial period. It produced high-quality silver and vermeil objects intended for table service, official gifts, and luxury commissions. This set is a fine example of Russian ceremonial silverwork, combining a practical serving piece with a personal and commemorative inscription.
