Set of 6 Louis XV-style chairs with removable frames, by Pietro Rosso, a cabinetmaker and woodcarver in Turin during the second half of the 19th century.
Officially listed among the city’s leading manufacturers, Rosso earned a reputation for crafting finely carved, high-quality furniture. His work was particularly notable for its reproductions of the most prestigious historical styles (the Cinquecento period) and French-influenced styles such as Louis XV, created for a wealthy clientele with a taste for classic furniture.
The chairs are painted light gray with a water-green wash and have been recently reupholstered in a fabric with a light foliage pattern.
The chairs bear the cabinetmaker’s label.
