First Empire staff officer's saber, known as the "Marengo," 19th century.
Curved hussar-style blade.
Checkered "un flél" grip with vertical lines.
Brass mount with a short-tailed pommel topped by a decorative motif and a lion’s head.
Single-branch guard, chiseled with decorative motifs and knotted lugs featuring military insignia on a sandblasted background, terminating in a lion’s muzzle.
Curved blade with a flat back and hollow edges, featuring a single cutting edge and a counter-cut edge at the point.
Blade engraved in the upper third with foliage and military insignia.
Thick gray leather strap present.
Brass scabbard decorated with a spiderweb pattern, floral motifs, and an engraved tip (see photos).
Scabbard with two suspension rings.
Length: 105 cm
Length without scabbard: 100 cm
Blade length: 82 cm
Blade width at the heel: 3 cm
