Artist: Gérard Jean Galle (1788-1846)
Pair of Empire-period candlesticks in two-tone gilded bronze, with a lustrous Amatie mercury gilding. The circular base is very finely chased, with foliage alternating around the rim with rows of pearls followed by palmettes and flowers. The cylindrical shaft is decorated with twisted grooves and dotted patterns. The conical bowl is chased with curling leaves.
