Pair Of Italian Armchairs Made Of Painted Wood Accented With Gilding

A pair of Italian Renaissance-style armchairs made of painted and carved wood, accented with gold leaf. These armchairs, known as “Savonarola chairs,” rest on a painted curule base with certain carved sections accented with fine gold. They are upholstered in a magnificent Renaissance-style tapestry featuring floral motifs embroidered with gold, silver, and colored threads!!
The seat is trimmed with studded pompom trimmings and features a removable cushion made of the same fabric, held in place by knotted cords, providing added comfort. The backrest is curved, carved in the shape of a gendarme’s hat, and upholstered on both sides with the same fabric as the seat, held in place by studded gold braid.
The entire piece is in excellent condition, both in terms of the wooden frame and the upholstery, which show no stains or tears.
