Louis XV-era Cherry Wood Chest Of Drawers With Crossbow Legs – 18th Century
Regional chest of drawers made of solid cherry wood, Louis XV period, 18th century.
The front features three wide drawers in three rows, with a characteristic crossbow-style mechanism. The fronts are embellished with scalloped moldings forming recesses around the handles and keyholes.
The slightly curved front legs extend into small, arched feet. The sides consist of panels assembled within frames, following a traditional construction method typical of 18th-century regional furniture.
The top, also made of cherry wood, features a molded edge and a slight curve on the front. It retains a particularly expressive original surface, marked by the passage of time: wear, stains, old repairs, small cracks, and irregularities.
The chest of drawers is fitted with bronze drop handles with rosettes and lock plates, also in bronze, consistent with the period.
The piece as a whole displays a beautiful, warm patina and a honey-colored tone typical of antique cherry wood.
