Very beautiful bronze group with very dark patina representing a young woman with a cherub. This is an original work by the sculptor Louis Cosme Demaille (1837-1906) and dated 1871. The details are striking, very high precision in the modeling and the casting. The patina is very dark, bordering on black. Very good condition, note the left wing of the cherub which moves a little bit. Period late nineteenth century. Delivery 30 euros in France, 80 euros in the EU and 150 euros rest of the world. Louis Cosme Demaille was a pupil of the sculptor Augustin Dumont and the painter Émile Vernet-Lecomte at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. He exhibited regularly at the Salon of French Artists from 1863 to his death. He obtained a 3rd class medal there in 1866 for a Young Savoyard making his marmot dance, and a 2nd class medal in 1885 for Protection. At the Universal Exhibition of 1900, he obtained an honorable mention. He died on December 11, 1906 at his home at No. 141 Rue de la Croix-Nivert in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, and he was buried in the Montparnasse cemetery.
