Cold-painted Bronze Bird – Vienna, Circa 1900
Cold-painted bronze bird – circa 1900
A charming cold-painted bronze sculpture depicting a pheasant with long plumage. The bird is depicted standing in a natural pose, with particular attention paid to the details of its plumage and the expression on its head.
The surface retains its beautiful original polychrome finish, combining shades of red, green, blue, brown, and gold. The fine modeling and naturalistic treatment are characteristic of Austrian animal bronze production from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
