A Little Joy Of The Day From The Louis XVI Period. 18th Century.

A rare and elegant miniature “bonheur-du-jour” cabinet from the Louis XVI period, 18th century, bearing the LAPIE mark.

It features beautiful rosewood and palisander marquetry, embellished with fine bands of precious wood. The upper section opens with two glass doors and forms a small display cabinet with shelves.

The lower section serves as a desk thanks to a pull-out shelf that functions as a writing surface. It sits above a waist-high drawer. The entire piece rests on four slender tubular legs topped with bronze feet and adorned with gilded bronze finials.

The piece is topped with an elegant slab of veined white marble, framed on three sides by an openwork bronze railing.

A particularly refined piece due to its small proportions, the quality of its marquetry, and the elegance of its bronze fittings—characteristic of ladies’ furniture from the late 18th century.
