Fan typical of the 18th century (Louis XV or Louis XVI period), decorated with a romantic, pastoral scene in the style of Antoine Watteau.
Depicting figures in period costumes in a bucolic landscape with trees, a blue sky, and floral accents. The ribs and spokes (the stems supporting the fan) are made of mother-of-pearl, finely carved, openwork, and engraved with very delicate lace-like detailing. Fan from the late 18th century (Louis XVI or Directoire period). Depicting a romantic or pastoral scene with elegant figures in a countryside landscape bordered by water and trees. The ribs and plumes are made of openwork mother-of-pearl, engraved and chiseled, finely crafted with decorative and gilded motifs.
