This lightweight Fijian i ula drisia club dates from the 19th century. It features a round wooden head and a handle finely carved with geometric patterns. Warriors used this type of weapon both as a throwing weapon and in close combat.
Measuring 39 cm in length and featuring compact proportions, this model corresponds to the small examples described as training clubs intended for children, which allowed them to become familiar with the handling of traditional weapons. These training models are much rarer than clubs intended for adults. The piece retains a beautiful antique patina and carefully executed decoration. A chip in the wood with some material missing affects the head, without altering the overall appearance of the object.
