Devotional Reliquary Under Glass – Virgin Mary – 19th Century
Charming popular devotional reliquary depicting the Virgin Mary, presented in an antique glass box serving as a display case (one side pane missing).
In the center is a delicate bust of the Virgin, with a finely sculpted and painted face, surrounded by a fabric veil and antique lace.
The figure is highlighted by a radiant golden halo.
The entire piece is richly decorated with embossed flowers, foliage, small blue flowers, ornaments, and gilded metal elements, in a particularly refined composition.
In the lower part are two inscriptions: “St. Veronica Jul.” and “St. Rose of Viterbo”, framing a small cartouche bearing a handwritten inscription of Marian devotion.
The display case consists of assembled glass panels edged with an antique green ribbon. It has a ring for hanging.
A beautiful example of 19th-century domestic piety, preserved in its original condition with wear, oxidation, and signs of age visible in the photographs.
