Two Earthenware Beard Dishes - Moustiers And Eastern France - 19th Century
Set consisting of two earthenware beard dishes, of typical scalloped shapes, intended for shaving use.
- The first, of good size, features polychrome decoration in the taste of Moustiers, with an elegant central bird surrounded by floral scrolls and small insects.
- The wing is underlined by a green fillet.
- The second, more sober, offers a stylized floral decoration with ochre garland and foliage, evoking a production from eastern France
The reverses show old traces of use, with hanging system and handwritten inscriptions, including a later inscription "Dvx Moustiers Fait main".
