The Port Of Saint-brieuc In 1962 - Georges Delplanque (1903–1999)

Georges Delplanque studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Douai from 1918 to 1923 and held his first exhibition in 1926. In 1927, he was admitted to the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris, where he studied in the studios of painters Lucien Simon and Louis-François Biloul. The following year, he won the Gaudrier Prize. In 1929, he exhibited the paintings Nude (Study) and Rue de l’Abreuvoir in Semur-en-Auxois at the Salon des Artistes Français. In 1936, he married schoolteacher Marie Nicol, who would later become the principal of the Barbusse preschool in Ivry-sur-Seine. In 1938, he created murals at the Barbusse school. That same year, he moved to Ivry with his wife, where he would live for 22 years. A friend of the sculptor Jean Graves and the painters Gustave Hervigo and Louis-Édouard Toulet, in 1954 he was one of the founders—along with Andrée Bordeaux-Le Pecq and Lilas-Bug, among other painters and sculptors—of the Salon Comparaisons.
